Our Elementary program offers a program for
children between the ages of six and twelve. Children at
this age are interested in society and they relate to it.
Experiences are provided that enable them to gain
access to that society, working through an integrated
program of cultural subjects: Botany-Zoology, History,
Geography, Arts, and Music. Each area of study provides
the keys to who we are, where we came from and why we
are here.

The mathematics foundation has been laid in the
primary class. Now the Montessori apparatus is used to
take the children to abstraction in the four basic
functions. The study of fractions and decimal numbers is
followed by the extractions of square and cube roots,
work with bases other than ten, and pre-algebra give the
child formative and visual foundation for higher
mathematics.

A continuation of the Primary class (3-6 years old) language experiences brings the child to the point of
“Total Reading”. Comprehension is intensified through the cultural subject reading materials and specific
lessons now emphasize the importance of spelling, creative expression is stimulated while the child is
learning technical aspects of writing. Modern and classical literature are integrated through the elementary
class.

Field trips throughout the year enable the students to see for themselves the reality of what is studied in the
classroom and to participate in Atlanta's cultural offerings.

The elementary-aged child is encouraged at all times to take responsibility for his actions. He thereby
develops a strong sense of independence, personal awareness and respect for himself and his society.
